British Champ Dalton Smith Wants Tiernan Bradley REVENGE

Tiernan Bradley [7(5)-0] says he is happy to give British light welterweight champion Dalton Smith [14(8)-0] a shot at revenge.

The Omagh talent defeated the Matchroom starlet via split decision in the 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games semi final and it’s a reverse the Sheffield native apparently wants to avenge.

Bradley put the idea of the fight to ‘Thunder’ while at the Joshua – Franklin card and says he got a positive response.

“I was chatting to Dalton Smith at the Joshua fight and I asked him when we were going to get it on again,” Bradley told Irish-boxing.com.

“He said ‘I’d love that Tiernan, I’d love to get revenge. Let me get Sam Maxwell over and done with and we’ll see what we can do.’ “

The fight would represent a huge breakthrough opportunity as well as a leap up the ladder for the Tyrone fighter.

It’s a leap the 26-year-old is willing to take and one he is confident he can make.

“Why not? He fought one Irish man before, why not two, and I helped Ray [Moylette] out for that fight too. I can gauge with that sparring from Ray how I would do against Dalton,” he adds before reflecting on the 2015 amateur fight.

“It was a tight fight. It was a high level fight that could have gone either way. Let me get my eights in and I’m ready.”

Bradley was speaking after making it back to back stoppage wins under the tutelage of former British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion Scott Welch.

‘Irish’ feels he is punching harder since relocating his training to England and is enjoyed stopping Adrian Orban in Galway.

“Scott is putting the power into my punches I feel it massively. I said stepping into the ring before ‘I don’t know if I should be allowed to fight in these eight ounce gloves, I might kill someone, it’s not right. I enjoy that extra bit of malice, every fighter loves that bit of malice.”
