John Joe Nevin set for Brooklyn Brawl

John Joe Nevin will put a difficult period of inactivity behind him when he returns to the ring in Coney Island on August 25.

After a double leg break slowed down the Olympic silver medal winners 2014 progress the popular West Meath talent returned to the ring in Dublin in November to fight for only the third time as a pro.

Nevin’s team then promised a busy few months awaited the lightweight prospect, however he hasn’t fought since.

The 26 year old recently revealed he would return on August 25 and the venue and card he is set to appear on has been conformed today.

Nevin will trade leather on a MCU Park hosted Brooklyn Brawl card against a yet to be confirmed opponent.

The shows promoter Dmitriy Salita is certainly excited about the prospect of former Irish amateur Nevin appearing on his card.

“John Joe Nevin is a great prospect and I am very happy that he will make his American debut in NYC on the “Brooklyn Brawl” series,” Salita said. “The Irish community has a very rich history of coming out in droves to see great boxing champions and I believe John Nevin has all the tools to follow in that rich lineage and impress the boxing fans, of all cultures, in NYC! John Joe is managed by one of the best managers in the sport, Cameron Dunkin, who has a great eye for elite talent, so we can all be assured he is the real deal. As a fan, I am excited about the John Joe Nevin fight August 25th in Coney Island, at MCU Park!”
