Former Interim World title challenger next for Spike

Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan will be looking to tame the ‘Volcano’ when trades leather in the home town of one of his fight hero’s Micky Ward on October 10.

The Cork middleweight will fight 29-year-old Colombian Francisco “Volcan” Cordero over 10 rounds on a card topped by Danny O’Connor and also plays host to Stephen Ormond and Patrick Hyland bouts.

Cordero comes to Lowell Memorial Auditorium with an impressive 31-4 record, with 22 wins coming by way of KO and is a former World title challenger, but the WBA NABA middleweight champions and World title holder will be confident of maintaining his perfect 5-0 Stateside record.

Espically considering ‘The Volcano’s’ tilt came back in 2009 and was at super featherweight. However, the Colombian, who has proven himself a dangerous foe, has also fought for the WBA Fedebol title at super and light middleweight losing on both occasions.

The bout is scheduled for 10 rounds.
