Vladimir Belujsky motivated to do better following debut draw
His first fight didn’t go to plan, but Vladimir Belujsky [0-0-1] seems to have gained more from his debut draw than he would have from five wins.
Back in March at the Connaught Rooms in London, the Cork super middleweight was held to a four-round draw by notably tough journeyman Anthony Fox.
The Bratislava-born fighter however has not let the debut disappointment derail him, and he returns this Saturday at the National Stadium in Dublin on the Celtic Clash 2 bill.
Looking back on his opening bout, The Slovak Rebel told Irish-Boxing.com that “I think, and everybody thinks, that I did enough to win but it doesn’t matter now.”
Reflecting on the draw, Belujsky has taken a lot from the tough scrap, and described how “I should have made more effort in making the decision a lot more clear – or not leave the fight to go the distance.”
“I’ve learnt so much from it and I am happy that it happened so early in my career because I can only get better.”
“I am definitely over it and I put it behind me but, of course, I look back on it to motivate me to do better.”
On Saturday Belujsky will face Teodor Lozanov [3(0)-6(4)] and he is confident that he will belatedly get off the mark.
“I’m definitely not over looking him or underestimating him,” the Mitchelstown man stressed. “But there will only be one winner come Saturday and that’s me.”
“People can expect me to be a lot more aggressive and determined to win. I’m not going in looking for the knockout but if my opponent is hurt I can guarantee I’ll finish the job.”
The card on Saturday is headlined by Eric Donovan, with further support from Mike Perez, Jay Byrne, Gerard Whitehouse, Stephen Carroll, Sean Creagh, Rohan Date, Carl McDonald, Allan Phelan, and Lynn Harvey, as well as debutants Regan Buckley, John Joyce, Liam Gaynor, John Corcoran, Stephen McAfee, and Keane McMahon.
Tickets for Celtic Clash 2 are priced at €15 (Under 15s), €30, €40, €45, and €55 (Premium), and are available from the boxers involved.
