McGuigan believes that, Eubank Jr aside, Cummings would beat every middleweight in Britain
Barry McGuigan feels that Conrad Cummings [10(4)-0-1] could beat almost every middleweight in Britain at the moment.
The Cyclone Promotions chief believes that, aside from Chris Eubank Jr [and presumably WBO champion Billy Joe Saunders], the domestic division is there for the taking for the Tyrone man.
The former WBA featherweight World champ was speaking yesterday at the George Groves v Eduard Gutknecht press conference where it was revealed that Cummings will fight for a to-be-confirmed title on the November 18th bill at the Wembley Arena.
The Clones Cyclone told IFL TV of his confidence in Cummings and stated how “I look at all the middleweights in the country and he’s capable of beating every one of them, there’s no question about that.”
“We wouldn’t match him with Chris Eubank Jr at the moment because he’s very special and he’s going to definitely win a World title in the future, but, him aside, the rest are all there.”
It will be a return to title action for the Tyrone middleweight who drew over ten rounds with Belfast Alfredo Meli for the BBBoC Celtic title last November at the Waterfront Hall, and McGuigan promises that Cummings has improved exponentially over the past year.
“Cummings has come on leaps and bounds since he drew with Meli. He was very disappointed [with the result], we were all disappointed, we though he won the fight clearly but he didn’t get it.”
“But he has improved tremendously in the gym, he looks amazing.”
“He’s going to be fighting in a title fight and we’re going to be moving him aggressively.”
