Magee Markussen Off Again?

Brian Magee’s on/off WBA interim super middleweight world title fight with Rudy Markussen is back off again, if Kalle Sauerland is to believed.

Pat Magee informed www.irish-boxing.com earlier in the week he expected the fight to be announced by Thursday, but Sauerland claims the fight has once again fallen through.

Complications arose when veteran Danish Promoter Morgen Palle entered the fray. Palle had options on former British champion Magee from the Mads Larsen European title fight and is owed money by Markussen,

Pat Magee, Brian Magee’s manager, believed Palle and Sauerland sorted out their differences and were working to make the a deal suitable to all parties. However, it seems business could once again ruin a boxing match up both fighters wanted.

“Unfortunately we have had to finally break off the negotiations with the Magee-camp today. Now we are looking for another opponent for a fight against Rudy Markussen on February 18,” promoter Kalle Sauerland says to Danish TV2

Team Sauerland are working on two other names, and Kalle Sauerland expects to be able to announce the opponent soon.

“I can confirm that tonight we move on with two exiting possibilities for a title fight for Markussen, and one of them is Gusmyr Perdomo.”

Considering Magee is in possession of a prestigious strap he will have number of options and remains on course to have a brilliant year.

It also has to be considered that Markussen’s world title options are limited to say the least meaning he could well come back to Magee over the next week or so.
