Like Dublin buses – Gaynor secures date just weeks after he ended 20 month wait

Having not fought in two years Liam Gaynor will fight for the second time in two months in September.

Gaynor has secured a slot on the next #MTKFightNight scheduled for Manchester.

The Tallaght fighter ended his sabbatical with a points win over Brett Fidoe at the AJ Bell Stadium in Eccles and quickly called to be kept busy.

The Kilnamanagh man wasn’t just content with ending a 20 month lay off he was keen to fight for the fourth time as soon as possible.

Speaking after his victory the 21-year-old told Irish-boxing.com,

“I’ll definitely appreciate being kept busy knowing how hard it is to stay in the game when your putting in so much effort and getting nothing in return, but I know that won’t be happening any time soon under my new manager.”

He predicted right. The fighter who is now teamed up with teaming up with Alex Matvienko at the Elite Boxing Gym in Bolton and Steve Wood’s VIP Promotions has already been handed another date.

Gaynor will appear in the Macron Stadium, Burnden Way, Bolton on September 13.

It’s a massive turn around for a fighter who had to wait nearly two years to build on teen triumphs over two of the better journeymen Krystzstof Rogowski and Alec Bazza.
