Background Kops4Kids Blue Collar Fight Night sponsored by St. Raphael's Garda Credit Union, in aid of St. John's Ward Crumlin Hospital. The idea for this event was prompted by the fact that two members of An Garda currently have sick children on St John's Ward. Both are currently receiving excellent care from the staff on the Ward, which depends greatly on private donations and fundraising. Along with our friends and Garda colleagues, we decided we wanted to raise money to support the Ward. The purpose of this event is to raise awareness of how giving a little can help a lot. Every penny raised through donations and sponsorship will go directly to St John's Ward. The committee organising Kops 4 Kidz is working in partnership with the Staff on St John's Ward to ensure that money spent will bring joy and happiness to those who need it most - our Children. Through our colleagues we have a true appreciation of the difficulties and heartbreak endured by all concerned. We have liaised with staff at the hospital and set up a fund raising committee. This Committee decided a white-collar fight night to be the most appropriate vehicle to raise funds for the hospital. Due to Gardai being involved it is proposed to advertise it as a "Blue Collar" Fight Night. St John's Ward is home to Ireland's national referral centre for Pediatric Oncology/Hematology and Haemopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT). Children diagnosed with cancers and haematological disorders require special attention and treatment, and new and better ways of treating these conditions are being discovered every day.
