I want the Bulter fight ASAP says Conlan

Jamie Conlan wants to face Paul Butler as soon as possible but believes he will have to wait until the Summer before he finally trades leather with a fighter he has been linked with for some time now.

‘The Mexican’ was ringside as the former Bantamweight World champ claimed the WBO super flyweight European title in Manchester on Saturday night by stopping Silvio Olteanu and admitted the Liverpool’s performance was impressive.

However, the Belfast puncher revealed he witnessed things he feels he can exploit and suggested the title win makes their inevitable meeting all the more mouthwatering.

“It was a good performance. I seen both positive and negaitve, but I’ll keep those to myslef. Again it was a good performance and sets things up nice again for us to have a big showdown.” Conlan told IFL TV.

Despite Butler’s suggestions otherwise Conlan claims he is eager for the match up to happen as soon as possible, but doesn’t think Butler will be his February opponent.

Indeed, he suggest both his and Butler’s promoters would prefer to let it build into a Summer smash.

“I want it ASAP, so does he but I will leave that up to MGM and Frank Warren. We will both enjoy our Christmas now. I am back out in February not sure when he is out again then hopefully the Summer. Love it!.”
