Feargal McCrory wins exciting battle in Belfast

Feargal McCrory gobbled up professional win number three on the MHD Promotions ‘Another Level’ show at the Europa Hotel in Belfast tonight.

The Tyrone lightweight faces Bulgarian Ivailo Boyanov in a hugely entertaining four-rounder.

Fighting for the first time in eight months, McCrory didn’t take long to get started and neither did Boyanov, immediately trading at centre ring. An all-action first two rounds, the Eastern European journeyman landed plenty and certainly came to fight. However McCrory seemed to have a slight advantage and began to take control in the second half of the fight.

The Bulgarian went down following a sustained period of pressure in the third, but it was, correctly, ruled a slip by referee Eamonn Magill (who was officiating his first contest)

The final round was the Coalisland puncher’s best of the fight, with McCrory interspacing his toe-to-toe moments with some nice boxing.

The final scorecard read 40:37 in favour of McCrory who stretches his unbeaten record to 3(1)-0 and he will look to improve this further on the Red Corner ‘Inception’ show in Dublin next month. The very game Boyanov falls to 2(0)-6(3)-1 and is another one of tonight’s boxers we would like to see back on these shores.
