Another Olympian added to big Belfast bill

The big Sky Sports show in Belfast has been bolstered by the addition of another Olympian.

IBF bantamweight champion Ryan Burnett looks to unify on Saturday October 21st against WBA titlist Zhanat Zhakiyanov – and it has been confirmed that Liverpool light middle Anthony Fowler [3(3)-0] will feature on the Matchroom card.

The English boxer is the third Rio Olympian on the bill alongside Middlesbrough welter Josh Kelly and Mullingar super feather Davey Oliver Joyce – while Burnett was the 2010 Youth Olympic gold medalist.

‘The Machine’ Fowler boxed in the WSB and is a Commonwealth gold and World bronze medalist.

Fowler fought last night in his home city at the Echo Arena, stopping Dubliner Jay Byrne in the fourth of six scheduled rounds.

Byrne was due to box on the card in Belfast but, due to a mandatory stoppage suspension from the BBBoC, he will now no longer box at the Odyssey.

The undercard in just under three weeks time also features Paul Hyland v Stephen Ormond, Tyrone McKenna v Tommy Coyle, James Tennyson v Darren Traynor, Feargal McCrory, Tommy McCarthy, Gary Cully, and Joe Fitzpatrick.

Tickets for the night cost £30, £40, £60, £100, £150 (VIP), and are available from the boxers involved or through HERE
