Paul Quinn: I feel inspired rather than pressure
PAUL Quinn tops his first bill in what for him is a massive homecoming on Saturday night, but dismissed any suggestions of pressure.
Indeed ‘The Mightly’ Quinn claims he is inspired rather than weighed down by the extra attention and hype.
As they say pressure makes diamonds, but Quinn believes he can sparkle at the Downpatrick Cricket club without letting expectation weigh him down. Quinn claims the fact so many people are buying tickets with the view to celebrating a home victory gives him extra confidence.
“I don’t really do pressure,” Quinn told Irish-boxing.com. “I don’t feel pressure going into this fight. The fact so many people are coming to watch me win actually gives me a boost of confidence. Everyone not only wants to see me do well but they believe I can do well, I take inspiration from that.”
“It is great to be fighting in Downpatrick. I have family there and they are all coming out. It is also great to be topping such a good show. If this show goes well hopefully I can fight there more often and bring bigger fights to Downpatrick,” Quinn added.
Dawid Knade stands between the exciting all action featherweight and win number 6 on Saturday night. Quinn admits he knows nothing more than Pole has two wins in five fights and was stopped by Anthony Cacace last time out.
He will study his opponent in the opening three minutes on Saturday night a luxury he claims is afforded to him by the fact he fights in his first six round contest.
“I don’t know too much about him to be honest. He was stopped by Cacace in his last fight, but Cacace is right on British title level by now. What I will do is have a look at him over the first round and go from there. I plan on winning, but I am not over looking the challenge.”
One challenge Quinn isn’t paying much heed to at the minute is the one sent his way by Daniel McShane.
‘Insane’ McShane called out his fellow featherweight last month claiming he wanted to get it on for the Irish title.
However, when pushed on the call Quinn elected against responding.
“I have no response on that for now. I have this fight and this opponent to worry about, so all I can say is no comment.”
