Jamie Conlan to fight Paul Butler in World title eliminator?

JAMIE Conlan could be one win away from a massive World title fight.

The WBO approved a request for Paul Butler versus Belfast’s Conlan to be a final eliminator for Omar Narvaez’s super-flyweight belt.

Conlan had always stressed a desire to fight Butler when the Liverpool lad held the British title, however the fight never materialised. Then when Butler moved up weight to challenge for and with the IBF bantamweight World title, but kept the super flyweight British strap at the same time there was a feeling Butler was stalling Conlan’s progression.

However the popular Belfast fighter skipped the domestic route and moved himself into the WBO world top 10.

Now it seems ‘The Mexican’ will be afforded the chance to finally fight Butler and secure a World title shot at the same time.

There has been no official word from either Cyclone Promotions or Frank Warren, but there are suggestions Warren is planning a Liverpool December 13 show that will include a Stephen Ormond versus Terry Flanagan clash and Conlan versus local lad Butler.
