‘You may get that folic acid out’ – Jubilant Tommy McCarthy tells his wife to get ready for baby number 5

Tommy McCarthy picked up another boxing accolade in London last night and it appears it gives him the perfect excuse to add another child to his already large family.

‘The Mack Attack’ didn’t go full Tony Thompson, but when speaking to IFL in the dressing rooms post his victory over Bilal Laggoune the new cruiserweight champion of Europe had a message for his wife.

McCarthy made sure his Amy and has four daughters, Cara, Branna, Aniya and Kiya were the first he thanked during his Sky Sports interview.

He told the kids ‘Daddy’s coming home with a new belt’.

Speaking backstage after he suggested that he could be bringing them home a new brother or sister at some stage in 2021.

When speaking to IFL TV a smiling 29-year-old effectively told his other half he has plans on adding to his family and intimated he wants the get started on baby making very soon.

Although McCarthy’s statement was made in jest it’s quite possible the European title win could allow him to earn the kind of money that would allow for him to afford a family expansion.

A world title shot could be within touching distance and Eddie Hearn is talking about promoting McCarthy and James Tennyson in Belfast next year. With a burgeoning scene there could be some lucrative home defences to be had.
