There are five Irish boxers in action tomorrow (Friday, November 18th) as our brilliant amateurs go in search of glory on two separate fronts.

The Irish Senior Women’s team will look to add two more quarter finalists at the European Championships in Bulgaria to go alongside Gráinne Walsh, Shauna O’Keefe, and Christina Desmond, while our Men’s Youth team will begin their World Championships campaign in Russia with three fighters in preliminary round action.

First up in Russia for the young lads is Limerick lightweight Paddy Donovan. The OLOL man is first up in Ring B at 10:00am (Irish time) in a Round of 64 clash with Poland’s Damian Durkacz

Following on from this, also in the Round of 64, is captain Brett McGinty. The Derry-Donegal welter will take on Thailand’s Kiattisak Promchuay at 12:15pm in Ring A.

First up in Sofia for the women is Kerry featherweight Moira McElligott at 1:30pm. The St Michael’s Athy newcomer takes on Croatian.

At 2:45pm in Bulgaria, World Championships silver medalist Kelly Harrington begins her campaign. The Dublin light welterweight has received a bye to the Last 16 and will take on Russian Aleksandra Ordina, who won her first round fight with Sweden’s Lina Skoghagen.

Finally, back in St Petersburg at 5:00pm, Balbriggan light heavy Christopher O’Reilly faces South Korean Kim Taek Min in the Round of 32 in Ring B.
