Stephen Ormond has put himself in line for a World title shot after a shut-out win over Marcos Jimenez in Boston last night.
The Clondalkin flier overcame ‘El Tigre’ to claim the IBF Inter-Continental lightweight title at the House of Blues on a Murphy’s Boxing card.
Headlining a card jam-packed with Irish talent, Ormond dominated his Dominican Republic opponent to take the fight 100-90 on all three judges’s scorecards.
The win sees Ormond improve his record to 21(11)-2(0), while Jimenez drops to 21(14)-7(3).
‘The Rock’ will now enter the IBF rankings and the 32 year old has the organisation’s Cuban champ Rances Barthelemy firmly in his sights.
