TJ Doheny has dream debut for Murpy’s Boxing

TJ Doheny had a dream start to life as a fighter with Murphy’s Boxing last night.

The Portlaoise super bantamweight successfully defended his PABA title in Boston for a sixth time on what was his American debut and first time fighting outside Australia.

‘The Power’ certainly proved that he merits his nickname with a sixth round stoppage victory over Mexico’s Gerardo Marin Hernandez at the House of Blues.

Doheny improved his record to 15(11)-0 with the inside-the-distance victory, and the Midlander will be looking to upgrade his belt in the near future. Hernandez drops to 13(8)-4(3)-2 with the reversal.

The 122lbs division is one that will see a lot of changes in the near future with unified champion Carl Frampton’s planed move up in weight, and Doheny will be one looking to step up to the mark and fill any vacancies at the top table.
