Willie Casey: protected Galahad should take a real test and fight me

WILLIE Casey says its time for less talk and more action when it comes to Kid Galahad.

The Ingle Gym graduate and current European champion has been trading verbal blows with the Limerick southpaw on Twitter- in between trying to goad Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg into a bout.

However, Casey is all talked out and said its time for the Hennessy Promotions fighter to put his continental strap on the line against him.

The former European champion admits Galahad has an impressive skill set, but  believes the English puncher has yet to be tested, something ‘Big Bang’ is willing to travel to Sheffield to amend.

“No doubt Kid Galahad is a classy boxer and he has done well to reach European level, but he needs a real test now. He has been protected and fought guys with padded records. It has done things the easy way,” Casey told Irish-boxing.com.

“They where bringing in Tyson Cave  for his last fight. Now I knocked out Tyson in his back yard in just my fifth fight now Galahad fights him when he has become European champion? After I became European champion I tested myself against Gullerimo Rigondeaux. I wasn’t afraid of a challenge nor was I protected.

“The Kid and myself would make a great fight, especially with our differing styles. It is time to put up or shut up. I will come to Sheffield and win the title in his backyard if he isn’t afraid of a real fight.”

After oiling off some ring rust with two Belfast hosted wins over the Summer, Casey, a recent Irish featherweight title challenger is keen to rejoin the super bantamweight big guns and he thinks Galahad provides perfect passage.

“I had two good fights over the summer and i shook of some rust. Now I want to get back into super bantamweight title contention.  Galahad has the European title a title I never lost in the ring I would love that title back.”
