Victory could be life changing for Meli, Cummings will need a hammer to stop him suggests Lindsay
Conrad Cummings might well have to bring a hammer with him to the ring to have any hope of forcing Alfredo Meli to take a backward step at the Waterfront on Friday night, according to the original Mac Man Martin Lindsay.
Former British champion Lindsay knows what his club mate is all about and warns the Cyclone Promotions puncher that Meli loves nothing more than an all action physical encounter.
The former Immaculata amateur is like most fight fans excited by the prospect of two undefeated middleweights going at it and believes Meli could cause and claim the BBB of C Celtic title on Friday.
“You know what you get from Fredo. He just wants a proper fight and he will stand in the middle of the ring with anyone. You would need a hammer to get him out of that ring on Friday night,” Lindsay told the Belfast Newsletter.
“His training has gone well and he had plenty of sparring and he is ready to go. Anything can happen in boxing – but Fredo believes he will win this clash and become the Celtic champion.
“And I am really excited about this fight – I think it will be a great fight and there is a buzz about the place,” he added.
Most agree the fans are the real winners in this match up, but Lindsay argues Meli has a lot to gain with victory. Indeed, it could be nigh on life changing for the mechanic with a massive fight engine.
“Fredo is one hundred percent confident he will win this fight. He knows this is a huge opportunity for him to move his career on. Fredo is working during the day and training at night – but he always gives his all in the gym.
“Fredo knows that if he wins this fight – he can put his job to the side for a couple of years – and go full time with the boxing,” he added.
