Three late changes of opponent for this weekend
Such is the nature of professional boxing, there are regularly late changes to opposition and the two cards in Ireland tomorrow night are no different.
In total there are four last-minute changes to previously-announced opposition.
On the Belfast Boxnation show at the Titanic Exhibition Centre James Tennyson [16(13)-2(2)] will now no longer face Nicaraguan Jose Aguilar [16(6)-31(8)-4]. In his place steps in another Nicaraguan, Rafael Castillo [14(6)-23(11)-4], who is actually a stronger opponent for the upcoming Irish super featherweight title challenger.
Down in Dublin on the Red Corner Promotions National Stadium show there is a change for Derry light middleweight Connor Coyle [1(1)-0]. The Florida-based fighter was due to face Hungarian Ferenc Katona [6(3)-2(1)], but will now step in the ring with the experienced Nicaraguan Santos Medrano [10(3)-52(10)]. While he brings more experience to the table, the Central American is a physically much smaller opponent.
Finally there is a swap for Kildare’s Eric Donovan [1(0)-0] who was originally due to face Romanian Csaba Kovacs [8(4)-7(3)-2]. The Transylvanian however has pulled out and rough Pole Krzysztof Rogowski [10(5)-20(10)] has been drafted n. A dangerous opponent, Donovan will need to be wary of the wild head of the Eastern European, who holds an amateur win over Carl Frampton.
