Three Irish boxers secure Olympic Youth places
Ireland will have three boxers competing at the Summer Youth Olympics in China in August.
Mayo’s Ciara Ginty, the current AIBA World Junior champion and 2013 AIBA World Junior Female Boxer of the Year, has been awarded a wild card entry in the lightweight class
Ginty, who boxes out of the Geesala BC, was desperately unlucky to losE out on a split decision to Yi-Pei Wu (Chinese Taipei) in the Youth Olympics Box-offs at the AIBA World Youth Championships in Bulgaria last month.
Ginty, Cork middleweight Christina Desmond and Donegal heavyweight Michael Gallagher will represent Ireland at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics.
The 2014 Summer Youth Olympic will take place in Nanjing, China between August 16th and 28th.
