‘The Future of Irish Boxing Looks Great’ – Katie Taylor Impressed After High Performance training session

Katie Taylor got a glimpse into the future of Irish boxing today and claims it’s bright.

The Irish Icon returned to the High Performance Unit and trained alongside some of the country’s brightest young amateur talents in Dublin.

The undisputed lightweight champion of the world, who dominated the amateur game during her time with the High Performance, went to work alongside the likes of under-22 European medal winners Niamh Fay and Kaci Rock, senior champion and serial continental underage medal winner Daina Moorehouse, European Elite gold medal winner Gabriel Dossen, Under-22 medal Euro winner Dean Clancy and more.

In a post to social media, Taylor said: “The future of Irish boxing is looking great.

“Privileged to train alongside the young talent!”

The amateur fighters expressed their delight at being afforded the chance to work alongside the Irish sporting sensation. Dean Clancy revealed it was ‘unbelievable to train alongside the legend’, while Kaci Rock said it was ‘great to train alongside the champ’.

Taylor is back home in Ireland awaiting news on her fight. Her Croke Park dream seems to have been put on ice after Amanda Serrano elected against going straight into a repeat of their record breaking Madison Square garden bout.
