Spike O’Sullivan [24(16)-2(1)] has identified the next subject of one of his social media campaigns.
The Cork middleweight has become well-known for his Twitter call-outs which would help him secure a huge fight with Chris Eubank Jr back in December 2015.
Last year O’Sullivan pushed hard for a fight Olympic bronze medalist Anthony Ogogo. This fight fell by the wayside when the Norwich boxer suffered a shock loss to Craig Cunningham.
Despite fracturing his eye socket in eight places and being registered blind, Ogogo has stated his intention to return to the ring. O’Sullivan, however, has decided to begin targeting Ogogo’s Sauerland stablemate Ibrahim Guemues [11(11)-0].
The Celtic Warriors Gym man had his attention drawn to the German boxer on Saturday night when he saw him feature on the Mairis Breidis v Marco Huck WBC cruiserweight title undercard in Dortmund.
Speaking on Red FM’s ‘The Big Red Bench,’ O’Sullivan described how “I was looking at some guy on BoxNation. Eleven wins, a German guy, with eleven knockouts. I can’t even remember his name.”
“He’s one of these guys, a pretty boy, I don’t like these guys. He seemed more intent on fixing his hair during the fight and looking good than boxing.”
Expressing his desire for the fight, O’Sullivan noted how “he has got quite an impressive record and I like to test myself against good fighters, plus I’ve never fought in Germany before. I’d go to Germany and fight him no problem.”
The 32 year old Leesider returns to training today following his St Patrick’s Day win in Boston over Ronald Montes, and an announcement on his next fight, mooted for May, is expected soon.
