SIX Irish fighters in World Youth Championship action today

Six Irish boxers climb through the ropes for a second successive day at the World Youth Championships in Spain today.

Georgia McGovern, TJ King, Caoimhe Kinsella, Gavin Ryan, Shakira O’Donaghue and Jim Donovan all trade leather in La Nurcia.

48kg European Youth medal winner Georgia McGovern begins proceedings against the Dominican Republic’s Novoanny Franciso Nunez in bout 2 of Ring A’s morning session.

Middleweight TJ King returns to the ring in Bout 11, looking to build on his first round, round one stoppage win when he takes on home boxer Juan Ramon Larrosa Inza.

In the afternoon session, 50kg Caoimhe Kinsella makes her tournament debut when she faces Japan’s Juni Tonegawa in Ring A’s bout 4. Over in Ring B, bantamweight Gavin Ryan meets Kazakhstan’s Zhandaulet Sarsbenayve in bout 7, in what is his second bout of the prestigious underage contest.

In Ring B’s evening session, bantamweight Shakira O’Donoghue meets England’s Jayne Bardauskas in a mouthwatering match up. In bout 10, Team Co-Captain Jim Donovan also fight for the second time returning to the ring for his welterweight bout against Serbia’s Uros Cingelic.
