Perez fights in London Wednesday-Wilton’s English title fight off

Prizefighter International Heavyweight king Mike ‘The Rebel’ Perez has been added to the undercard of Lee Purdy’s British Welterweight title defence against Colin Lynes at York Hall, Bethnal Green on Wednesday night (November 9) live on Sky Sports 1 and HD1 from 9.30pm.

The unbeaten Irish-based Cuban stormed to victory in the first multi-national Prizefighter event in May at London’s Alexandra Palace, stopping American KO-king Tye Fields in the first round of the final after another first round stoppage in the semi-final against Frenchman Gregory Tony and a quarter-final points win against Trinidad and Tobago’s Kerston Manswell.

The 26 year-old has been linked with a number of high profile fights and replaces Ashley Sexton as the chief support on the night after the English Flyweight champion withdrew due to weight issues ahead of his defence against Luke Wilton.

Perez can underline his credentials as a title challenger when he aims for his 17th pro win and a 13th knockout triumph against an opponent to be named tomorrow.

Purdy will claim the Lonsdale belt outright if he beats Lynes on Wednesday and his trainer Tony Sims has three unbeaten fighters on the bill in John Ryder, Tyler Goodjohn and Ryan Taylor. Stoke Newington Light-Middleweight contender Erick Ochieng gets a six round outing, as does unbeaten Wood Green Light-Welterweight Chris Evangelou, while former European Heavyweight champion and World title challenger Albert Sosnowski also returns to action.
