Danny O’Connor to headline massive Murphy’s bill in Boston – Spike and Ormond on undercard!

Irish-American welterweight Danny O’Connor [26(10)-2(0)] will aim to exact revenge in Boston next month when he takes on Gabe Bracero at the historical Lowell Memorial Auditorium.

Murphy’s Boxing, fronted by the Dropkick Murphys’s Ken Casey, will promote the October 10th ‘Premier Boxing Champions’ show which will also feature Celtic Warrior’s fighters Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan and, making his Murphy’s debut, Stephen Ormond.

As part of Al Haymon’s behemoth, the East Coast card, titled ‘The Rematch,’ will be shown live on NBC Sports.

In the headline bout, Bracero [23(4)-2(0)] and Celtic FC nut, Danny ‘Bhoy,’ will renew hostilities. The Puerto Rican handed O’Connor his first professional defeat back in 2011, and the Irish-American southpaw will be looking to put the record straight, and further propel himself towards a title shot.

Bracero was recently defeated by Felix Diaz of the Dominican Republic, who Irish fans will remember as the man who defeated John Joe Joyce via countback at the 2008 Olympics en-route to taking gold.

Upon the announcement of the bill, O’Connor explained that he is “excited for the chance to avenge my first loss. I’m so ready for this!”

Topping the undercard will be Cork’s Gary O’Sullivan [21(14)-1(0)]. The power-punching Leesider will be defending the NABA middleweight title he won back in May with a stunning knockout of Melvin Betancourt. The 31 year old will be hoping for a tough oppent as he prepares himself to be thrown into the elite middleweight mix.

Also featuring will be Stephen ‘The Rock’ Ormond [18(9)-2(0)], who recently signed a deal with Murphy’s after a period spent with Frank Warren. The exciting 32 year old Dubliner will be looking to make a quick impression, as he gears up for an assault on World titles.
