MEDAL ALERT – Martin McDonagh Brings Ireland’s European Medal Tally to Eight
Martin McDonagh is a European medal winner.
The Galway super heavyweight secured European U22 honours with victory in Sofia on Wednesday.
The boxer who burst onto the scene over the last two years accounted for IBA-B’s Mikita Nahorny in his first International fight at the U22 grade.
The fighter who was one win away from Olympic qualification earlier this year claimed bronze at least via the 4-1 win.
McDonagh will fight for silver on Thursday.
The win brings Ireland’s medal tally at the 2024 European Championship tournament to eight with McDonagh joining Bobbi Flood, Patsy Joyce, Clepson dos Santos, Louis Rooney, Carleigh Irving, Robyn Kelly and Lisa O’Rourke on the podium.
