McDonagh and Waldron fight for Irish title in Liverpool
By Jonny Stapleton
Paddy McDonagh and John Waldron will trade leather for the vacant Irish Light Heavyweight title in Liverpool this Saturday night.
Undefeated 20 year old McDonagh, who holds a win over Ciaran Healy, will be looking to claim his first belt and progress his career past the prospect stage.
Former champion Waldron, 36, on the other hand is looking to give his career the smelling salts after three stoppage defeats in his last three fights.
The fight has been sanctioned by the Boxing union of Ireland and the British boxing board of control and is said to be the first of many fights that Irish Rope promotions and Frank Maloney will put on together.
Tom Ward said; ” Due to the lack of shows in Ireland we are working in association with Frank Maloney to stage the first Irish title of 2012 in the UK capitol of Ireland, Liverpool.
Top of the bill is the early awaiting clash between Liverpudlian David Price and big bad John McDermott which is live on sky sports.
