Four Irish fighters to feature on next MGM show with Macklin

Fresh from the success of their July 4th ‘New Beginning’ show in Dublin, MGM Promotions will be putting on another night of action on August 28th. The Andalucian Plaza Hotel in Puerto Banús will be the venue for an eight-fight, black-tie dinner show titled ‘Lights Out at the Plaza.’

As previously announced, Matt Macklin [32(21)-6(4)] will headline the card as he seeks to rebuild towards a fourth world title challenge. The 33 year old middleweight made a successful return to the ring in May in his native Birmingham. ‘The Tipperary Tornado’ will be aiming for a knockout performance as he tops the bill in his new adopted home.

Dublin southpaw Declan Geraghty [8(2)-1(0)] will lead the way on the undercard. ‘Pretty Boy’ put on an eye-catching, knockout performance in front of the Boxnation cameras at ‘New Beginning’ last month in the National Stadium. The 25 year old, former amateur star will be looking for another classy outing as he seeks to drop down in weight to super featherweight/featherweight – and progress towards becoming a headliner in his own right.

Heavyweight knockout artist, Sean Turner [5(4)-0], will make his first appearance as an MGM Promoted fighter on the show in the South of Spain. Another who was on the ‘New Beginning’ card last month, ‘Big Sexy’ only needed a round to dispatch his opponent. The 24 year old former senior champion will be aiming for another early night in his first overseas bout.

JJ Metcalf – the son of Liverpudlian-Irish slugger, Shea Neary – also makes an appearance. The 27 year old light middleweight, nicknamed ‘Kid Shamrock,’ has won all ten of his professional fights so far and is starting to target titles.

Dublin cruiserweight David Maguire [3(1)-0] will make his return to the ring on the Iberian card. The unbeaten 38 year old had been out of action for 9 months, and ‘The Viking’ will want to get cracking straight away.

Also on the bill will be Irish debutante Ciaran O’Brien  while the card is rounded out by 24 year old Glaswegian light middleweight, ‘Magic’ Mark Kerr [1(0)-0], and Romanian bantamweight Ion Costi [0-1(0)].

Tickets for the show can be bought via tickets@mgm.com.es or by phoning +34 952 81 72 19.
