Irish TV boost for Jason Quigley ahead of U.S. headline fight

Jason Quigley‘s [14(11)-0] return to the ring will be shown live on Irish TV.

Six months on from his last fight, the Donegal middleweight boxes next Thursday in Los Angeles, and his headline bout will be shown live on eir Sport 1.

Quigley tops a Golden Boy on ESPN bill at the Fantasy Spring Casiio in Indio where he defends his NABF middleweight rankings title versus Mexican veteran Freddie Hernandez [34(22)-9(4)].

It is the second successive Quigley fight that will be shown on eir Sport following the 27-year-old’s return from injury back in March. The ESPN broadcast will be aired on the Irish sports channel from 3:00am (Irish time) and the fight will be replayed both on Friday morning and evening for those unable to stay up to watch live.

Back in March Quigley stopped Daniel Rosario in Boston and a return to the ring had been planned for August.

However, a potential fight with Japanese star Ryota Murata on October 20th was close to completion before this mooted match-up fell apart, stalling Quigley’s plans slightly.

The Golden Boy starlet will now be looking for a strong finish to the year before chasing massive fights in 2019.

A win in the first defence of the WBC rankings title should see the Ballybofey boxer boost his #6 ranking with the organisation. Quigley is also ranked #9 with the WBA.

It will be a busy week for Irish boxers on TV, too, with Mick Conlan’s fight in Las Vegas versus Nicola Cipolletta set to be shown live on BoxNation, Caoimhin Agyarko’s pro debut playing out on BT Sport, and Katie Taylor and James Tennyson’s respective world title fights versus Cindy Serrano and Tevin Farmer due to air on Sky Sports along with, hopefully, Niall Kennedy’s clash with Brendan Barrett.
