Irish team for European Under-22 Championships
The ten-man Irish team that will fly to Romania next month for the European Under-22 Championships has been confirmed.
The tournament runs from March 13th to March 22nd in the city of Brăila.
As expected, the results of last month’s National Under-22 Championships have factored heavily in the team selection with nine of the champions in the squad.
The only change is a welterweight, with talented Armagh fighter Eugene McKeever replacing John Maughan who has withdrawn injured.
The IABA have confirmed to Irish-Boxing.com that the team is a follows:
49kg Darryl Moran (Illies GG)
52kg Jordan Moore (Glasnevin)
56kg James McGivern (St Georges)
60kg Dylan Duffy (Pegasus)
64kg Keith Flavin (Paulstown)
69kg Eugene McKeever (Holy Family Drogheda)
75kg Kelyn Cassidy (Saviours Crystal)
81kg Brian Kennedy (St Marys Daingean)
91kg Geoffrey Kavanagh (Glasnevin)
91+kg Thomas Carty (Glasnevin)
It should be noted that this is a provisional team, and that both Moran and Carty are currently competing in the Senior Elite Championships.
The squad have been training at the new Centre of Excellence in Abbottstown.
