Holy Trinity ask Ulster Council to give Lewis Crocker a box off
THE Holy Trinity Boxing Club have requested a box off for the final place on the Commonwealth Youth Games be ordered by the Ulster Council.
The call comes after the furor raised surrounding the omission of Lewis Crocker from the Northern Ireland Team to travel to Samoa to compete in the tournament.
There was genuine shock within the boxing fraternity when the welterweight viewed by as one of the ‘best prospect in Irish boxing’ was omitted from the squad.
The young talent was nominated by High Performance Director John Conlan among others, but after an objection was lodged the Ulster Council selected six time Irish champion Brett McGinty.
Holy Trinity have since sent a letter to the Ulster Council requesting the two young talents box off to decide the final place on the squad.
