‘He Knows he’s Got More to Give’ – Jamie Morrissey Comeback Gathers Pace

Jamie Morrissey knows he has more to give, so he is returning to give it, suggests Ian Gaughran.

The Treaty County man stepped away from the sport in 2024 at the age of 29 and after just seven fights.

His innings was a whirlwind one, with the Munster man winning BUI Celtic titles at two weights and contesting memorable domestics with the likes of Robbie Burke, Kevin Cronin and Emmett Brennan.

It now seems there is wind back in his boxing sails as the Limerick favourite is eyeing up a return.

Speaking about the comeback, his manager, Gaughran, says Morrissey has been keeping a watchful eye over proceedings and believes he can step back in and make an impact.

“He just knows that he’s got more to give,” Gaughran told Irish-Boxing.com.

“He’s seeing the opportunities that people are getting and he knows how good he is.”

There is no date or official comeback time frame but Morrissey is back in the gym and working toward being fight-ready.

“He’s quietly been working away over in the UK in the background,” Gaughran added.

“You can see by some of his clips he’s put up on socials that he looks lean, he looks strong, he looks slick.” He looks like he could be a better version of Jamie Morrissey.”

The IGB boss is particularly excited by the prospect of seeing Morrissey back because of the mark he previously left on the Irish domestic scene.

“He’s top class and he kind of laid the benchmark for domestics,” Gaughran said.

“He just took domestic after domestic and he was in some unbelievable fights.”

Now Gaughran hopes to see the Limerick man add another chapter to his career.

“It’s so good to have him back,” he said.

“Looking forward to hopefully having him back.”
