Get to know Mick Conlan’s debut opponent Tim Ibarra with this ‘slightly’ biased interview
Mick Conlan makes his first step into the professional game on Friday night. The Belfast star headlines the Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City, an unprecedented move from promoter Top Rank.
His opponent on St Patrick’s Day will be unheralded Colorado boxer Tim Ibarra [4(1)-4(2)], who has been plucked from obscurity for the six round fight.
While he starts as a 33/1 outsider, Ibarra is a confident character who has been given over two months to prepare, and is coming to win in the Big Apple.
Local boxing outlet ¡THROWdown! sat down with the 26 year old and his trainer Fidel Martinez for an admittedly extremely partisan chat about his background, his preparations, and his views on the big fight.
