Fortune teller calls Geraghty-Carroll rematch

It seems a fortune teller rather than just fortune favours Declan Geraghty [17(4)-2(1)] heading into his eagerly anticipated rematch with Jono Carroll [15(2)-0] on June 30.

‘Pretty Boy’ and ‘King Kong’ will settle a long standing grudge just under four years after their 2014 Irish Fight of The Year in Belfast on June 30.

The rematch is the highlight of a sensational Michael Conlan ‘Homecoming’ under card that also includes Tyrone McKenna vs Jack Catterall, Tyrone McKenna vs Joe Ham and Paddy Gallagher against Gary Corcoran and is a genuine 50/50 Dublin derby.

It’s one everyone can’t wait to see but remains hesitant to call.

If you are one of those on the fence two weight former amateur National Elite Champion Geraghty suggests you should pay heed to what a fortune teller in Thailand predicted not long before he got news a rematch was scheduled.

“I was in Thailand and I got my fortune told over there and I was sitting there with the girlfriend and the things he knew about us! The he goes ‘you box’ out of nowhere and then said ‘next fight you are victorious’. Then we got the phone call saying we are fighting Jono, it was just funny,” Geraghty told

After an impressive if under the radar win over Johnny Quigley the stylist headed for a break in Asia, but is adamant he kept in shape despite the prolonged trip abroad.

Indeed, the southpaw points out he has adopted a whole new approach to boxing that he believes will benefit him in his June 30 fight.

“I am really really in good shape now. I am really living the life. Before I would literally go in to camp and then go out of camp bad. Now camp is all year round. It’s not as intense but I keep living the life. I am really excited the fight and I believe I am going to win.”
