Durable opponent next up for Gary Sweeney

Gary Sweeney [1(1)-0] will get to chance to prove his punching power next weekend.

The Galway cruiserweight fights on the undercard of the massive Boxnation double-World title card headlined by Terry Flanagan and Guillermo Rigondeaux. in Wales on July 16th.

The Ballinrobe youngster will face winless Czech Marek Gabor [0-5(0)] on the show at the Cardiff Ice Arena.

The Central European has never been stopped in his three-year career so far, but Sweeney will be looking to change this next Saturday.

The Gallant’s professional debut in May against Mario Lakatos lasted less than half a round, with the Slovak hitting the canvas thrice in a 77-second demolition.

Sweeney is joined on the card by Belfast duo Jamie Conlan and Tyrone McKenna, as well as Wembley-Connaught light middleweight Gary Corcoran who takes on British and Commonwealth champion Liam Williams.
