Dennis Hogan secures World title shot

Kildare’s Dennis Hogan will challenge for the WBA World light middleweight interim title in Germany on September 26.

‘The Huricane’ will be hopeful of dethroning WBA world #1 Jack Culcay and registering a win that will see him become mandatory for the WBA Champion Erislandy Lara.

Hogan has to travel into Culcay’s back yard for the biggest fight of his life, which will play out in the Max Schmeling Halle, Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin next month.

Traveling isn’t an issue for the fighter that is also highly ranked with the IBF. The Kildare native traveled to Australia to turn over and went on to win regional, National and Continental titles. The undefeated Lilly White then journeyed to America where he won the NABA WBA USA title, which made him eligible to challenge Culcay, who has one defeat in 21 bouts.

Speaking on social media the 30 year old said,

“I am pumped to announce that I will be fighting WBA world interim champion and WBA world number 1 Jack Culcay for his title in Germany on September 26th, this win will make me interim world champion and a direct shot at Lara’s title I want to thank my team for working night and day to get me this shot. This is what I always wanted and now I will deliver.”
