Belfast’s Steven Ward will make his professional debut next month on the bumper Belfast Boxnation bill.

The 26 year old’s management team, Macklin’s Gym Marbella, made the announcement tonight that the former amateur star will feature on the undercard at the Titanic Exhibition Centre on Saturday November 5th.

The Ulsterman has recently spent time in England sparring with top British super middles Martin Murray and Rocky Fielding.

Ward, who intends to fight at light heavyweight, joins Marco McCullough, Sean Turner, and Con Sheehan, on the Jamie Conlan-topped bill.

2010 Commonwealth silver medalist Ward noted how he is delighted to be making his pro bow in his home city and explained how “fight night can’t come quick enough and making my debut in Belfast makes it extra special.”

“I always felt my amateur style would suit the professional game and we’ve been working throughout the summer to make the switch smoothly.”

MGM described how “We are delighted that Steven will get the opportunity to make his debut in Belfast.”

“His amateur record speaks volumes as to the talent he has – and I think this will translate well into the professional ranks.”
