Career-best win for Noely Murphy on James DeGale v Badou Jack undercard

Cork’s Noely Murphy scored a career-best win this evening in New York on the Badou Jack v James Degale undercard.

The Macroom welter took on local prospect Maxito Sainvil on the big bill at the Barclays Centre as part of the non-televised undercard and scored a wide points win.

Quicker and bigger than his formerly undefeated opponent, Murphy boxed his way to a comfortable unanimous decision, taking the bout 60:54 x2, 59:55 on the cards.

The victory sees Murphy improve his record to 8(2)-0, while Sainvil drops to 4(2)-1(0)-1 after a first career loss.

The 22 year old will return to training immediately following the win ahead of another fight date, an Irish homecoming, on the Red Corner Promotions ‘Unfinished Business’ card at the National Stadium on Saturday February 25th.
