Andy Lee to feature at Electric Picnic
When Irish-Boxing.com spoke to Andy Lee last month we jokingly asked whether the former WBO middleweight champ would finally get the chance to attend his beloved Electric Picnic this September.
The Limerick southpaw laughed saying “I’ll probably be there yeah!”
Not only will Lee be in attendance in Stradbally this weekend, he will also be performing.
The Castleconnel puncher will form part of the panel for the Soundings live podcast show at the MindField area of the festival in Laois.
Alongside Lee will be singer-songwriter SOAK and comedian Aisling Bea. The discussion will be mediated by Dylan Haskins and special guest-host Sharon Horgan, creator and star of Channel 4 comedy Catastrophe, who will be stepping in for Lisa Hannigan.
Soundings is described as “a show for the curious, the serious and the hilarious with guests telling three stories to inspire, alarm and humour, eased along with musical interludes.”
The extremely articulate Lee is known as something of a Renaissance Man among Irish boxers. A massive music fan, Lee can often be found backstage, or in the moshpit, at the concerts of Yorkshire band The Cribs.
Last year the Athens Olympian also was scheduled to star in the ‘Chekhov’s First Play’ production at the Dublin Theatre Festival but was forced to withdraw due to the change of date for his fight with Billy Joe Saunders.
The ‘Soundings Holy Trinity’ podcast will take place at 2.10pm on Saturday, 3rd September in the Leviathan Tent at MindField.
