McCrory says what we’re all thinking – “Make Frampton-Quigg now!”
Sky pundit and former cruiserweight world champion Glenn McCrory feels that “there’s no need to wait around any longer, the time for Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg to get it on is now.”
Writing in his regular column for Newcastle’s Evening Chronicle, McCrory has urged the pair to fight as “it would be a crying shame if this fight were to not happen when both fighters were at their peak because one was beaten before it got made.”
The 50 year old also gave his thoughts on the pair’s respective outings last weekend. On Quigg, he felt the Englishman “had a very slow start against Kiko Martínez.” However, he feels that the Bury super bantamweight “showed true championship class though to come out next round and blast the Spaniard out of there.”
On ‘The Jackal,’ McCrory notes that the IBF world champion also “had to overcome a scare as he was put down for the first time as a pro – twice in the first round – in Texas, but battled back to see out a points win against Alejandro Gonzalez Jr.”
McCrory believes that their fights were “both were stark reminders of how cruel and how tough this sport can be.”
“The pair now have a chance to make life-changing money by fighting one another.”
On the “mouth-watering bout,” McCrory would not be drawn on a prediction, only saying that he is “sure it would fill any stadium in the UK by itself.”
