THREE weight World champion Abner Mares has once again stated a desire to fight Belfast fight hero Carl Frampton.
The fighter who held titles at bantam, super bantam and featherweight lost his WBC featherweight strap to Jonny Gonzalez in August of last year, but fights Jose Ramirez in what he hopes will be a second successive win since his first career defeat.
And the 29 year old told reaffirmed his desire to fight Frampton when speaking to IFL TV before the Vegas clash.
Frampton will defend his IBF super batamweight World title against Chris Avolas this coming spring, and whilst Avolas is a respected fighter he isn’t quite the name that Mares is. A bout with Mares would or Santa Cruz would see Frampton break America.
