Wilton gets chance to become Lord of the English Flys

BELFAST’S Luke ‘Winky’ Wilton has been given the chance to become lord of the English Fly’s as he challenges Ashley Sexton for the English Flyweight title on November 9.

Along with fellow Belfast Flyweight Jaime Conlon, Wilton has long since been linked with British and Commonwealth title shots only for nothing substantial to materialise.

However, it seem both could take a step closer to domestic domination as Conlon closes in on a fight with former British champ Paul Edwards and Wilton gets the opportunity to buckle his first belt around his waist.

Wilton will face Sexton at the York Hall and the man born in East London is determined to register a victory in a bout that could propel him into the British reckoning.

“This is biggest fight of career my career so far. It is a title fight and a fight that means the world to me. I think I have deserved a shot a something for a long time now. When I win it will give me the opportunity to fight the winner of Chris Edwards and Shinny Bayaaer for the British title,” Wilton told www.irish-boxing.com. “I am confident I can win. I wouldn’t have taken the fight if didn’t think I could win. I am not worried about the short notice as I have been training away regardless.”
