Deadly with his fists AND his feet – Spike O’Sullivan lines out for local GAA club

Spike O’Sullivan traded knocking out opponents for knocking over scores yesterday when he lined out for his home side Ballinure in the first round of the Cork Junior C Football Championship.

The former Irish champion, who is due to return to the ring as a light middleweight this Summer, donned the #14 jersey and took to the field as a powerful full forward.

Spike’s opponent this time round were the fifteen hardy men of Glenlara GAA, and – as this brilliant photo from John Tarrant shows – their full back came off second best in a collision with O’Sullivan.

The Celtic Warriors Gym fan-favourite didn’t get on the scoresheet himself but set up two goals during the game.

However, despite his best efforts, O’Sullivan couldn’t prevent his parish from falling to a 0-18 to 4-2 defeat.

With Spike’s appearance in mind, who else from the Irish boxing community has lined out for their local side?
