Winter Fight Night -Date and Opponent Confirmed for Michael Conlan

Michael Conlan [17(8)-1(1)] takes on five-time European champion Karim Guerfi [31(9)-6(4)] at the SSE Arena on December 10.

A Winter Belfast fight night has long since been rumoured and was officially confirmed today as was the opponent.

At various stages over the last few weeks, there was talk of a Leigh Wood rematch, an Iaasc Dogboe fight with the likes of Jordan Gill and even Kiko Martinez getting a mention as a possible visitor to Belfast.

However, French man Guerfi will man the opposite corner on top of card that will also host fights for Sean McComb and Tyrone McKenna.

The 35-year-old has been a European multi-weight ruler for Europe and challenged for a world title in his flyweight days.

His most recent defeat came against reigning European champ, Gill, a fighter Conlan Boxing wanted for the Olympic medal winner. Guerfi was up on the cards against the Brit, but ‘The Thrill’ pulled managed to pull out a big stoppage to claim the strap.

McKenna and McComb add further Belfast interest to the card. They return against yet-to-be-confirmed opponents,McKenna fighting for the first time since he defeated Chris Jenkins on the Return of the Mick card, it’s a similar story for McComb who was last seen against Ramiro Blanco on August 6. Conlan Boxing duo Kurt Walker and Kieran Molloy are also likely to appear.

Irish-boxing.com understands Conlan Boxing are also trying to make some interesting all Irish fights for the bill.
