WATCH: Paulie Malignaggi spits on McGregor mural – ‘That’s what I think of him’

Paulie Malignaggi has taken his attempts to lure Conor McGregor into the ring to new levels – or, indeed, lows.

The former two-weight world champion not only spit on a mural of the former two-weight UFC world title holder, but filmed himself doing so and posted it on ine.

In the video, Malignaggi was asked: “What do you about this right guy here?”

The Brooklyn-born former boxer then spat at the painting and said: “That’s what I think about him.”

The Brooklyn native tagged both McGregor and his long time Irish based trainer partner Artem Lobov – who will be Malignaggi’s opponent in a Summer bareknuckle bout – with the caption “F*** the other side.”

The mural is painted outside O’Brien’s Irish pub in Santa Monica, Los Angeles and was drawn by Jonas Never.

The respected TV pundit has had issue with McGregor, who recently boxed in Crumlin BC’s famous Good Friday show, since unfavourable photographs and footage of their spars before the Floyd Mayweather v McGregor event was leaked.

The American, who also won the European title, has been very vocal about his desire to fight the former Crumlin amateur since.

Malignaggi has issued various call outs and admitted he only agreed to fight Lobov in the bare knuckle area so he could make it impossible for McGregor not to want revenge. He has also stated boxing promoters have expressed an interest in promoting a boxing bout between the duo – with Eddie Hearn admitting that he has made contact with both parties regarding the fight.

Those aware of the promotional element of boxing may see the incidents as the publicity stunts they are, but those less educated in the business side of the sport may take real umbrage with ‘The Magic Man’s’ approach.

Indeed, there have been some suggestions his recent behaviour may haven a negative affect on what most will admit is great TV punditry work.
