Mike Perez [22(14)-2(1)-1] goes for world title glory this weekend on the biggest of stages.
While Riga, Latvia, wouldn’t be a boxing hotbed – ‘The Rebel’s’ challenge of WBC cruiserweight champion Mairis Briedis [22(18)-0] comes as part of the opening round of fights in the new World Boxing Super Series.
The multi-million tournament pits eight of the top cruisers together in a bracket-style competition, with the eventual winner unifying three of the major four belts and taking home the prestigious Muhammad Ali Trophy.
The style and aesthetic of the tournament is a bit different to what boxing fans are used to and makes for some ver interestng promos.
The official video for Briedis v Perez features highlights of the Cork-Cuban’s win over Travis Walker, clips of Briedis’s defeat of Olanrewaju Durodola, overlayed by the voices of the two fighters and some WBSS promo footage.
It is an exceedingly well-made video that will certainly get you pumped up for Saturday’s fight.
