THERE was plenty of guts and guile, but no glory for Dean Byrne in Blackpool on Saturday night.

Once again 30 year Irish Lightening, showed his bravery and at times skill set, but eventually came undone as he tried to move up a level, losing to Russia’s number one and World ranked welterweight David Avanesyan.

The former Wild Card puncher, took some massive shots from the first round on and was stopped after the impressive and sensationally strong Russian put him to the floor with a body shot in round six of a scheduled eight rounder.
