Featherweight James Tennyson stole the show at the weekend on the ‘Champions at the Europa’ dinner card.
The Belfast youngster, who has recently been ordered to meet Darren Traynor in a British title final eliminator, was fighting George Gachechiladze – and the assassin absolutely annihilated the Georgian gatekeeper.
Gachechiladze, a former foe of Kiko Martínez and Willie Casey, was sent to the canvas in the second by a barrage of right hands. Rising to his feet, the Eastern European was instantly put back down for the count by a gut-wrenching left hook to the body.
It was certainly a big statement by the Kronk fighter who could become a big name in Irish boxing in the next 12 months.
