Tommy McCarthy hopes to impress as he boxes in his backyard

TOMMY McCarthy is ready for some back yard boxing as he makes his Belfast debut just five minutes from his house.

The former Senior Champion fights for a third time as a paid fighter at the Devinish on a stacked October 4 card and is planing to impress what he hopes will be a large support.

“The Devenish is very close to where I live. It’s like a five minute walk – so I am looking forward to the show and letting people see what I have to offer.

“There should be a big crowd down to cheer me on, so I am really looking forward to it,” he told the Belfast Newsletter.

McCarthy has stopped all of his opponents so far and he says another stoppage would be nice.

“I will go out and stick to my boxing and if I do that the stoppage will come.

“Turning professional was always a dream of mine and I am now living the dream. I want to go the whole way to the very top and I will work hard to get there.”
